Study objective: testing an investigational drug for treating systolic heart failure, including safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics (how long it takes to leave the human body).
What is a systolic heart failure? People with systolic heart failure have a weak heart because their left ventricle, which pumps most of the blood, cannot contract (squeeze) normally when the heart beats. Heart failure is a major public health problem, with a prevalence of over 5.8 million in the USA and over 23 million worldwide.
